A Strong Partnership for the Region – GIZ Visits SFPL
On 4 July, the Solidarity Fund PL had the pleasure of hosting representatives of the German development cooperation agency GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit).
The Chair of the GIZ Management Board, Mr Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel, and the Director of Special Programmes for Ukraine and Cross-Border Tasks, Mr Benjamin Klinger, met with SFPL President Justyna Janiszewska and Chief Operating Officer Agnieszka Orzechowska to discuss the future of development cooperation. The talks focused on joint efforts in Ukraine and new opportunities in Moldova, arising from the EU’s new programming perspective.
The shared experience of SFPL and GIZ shows that partnership-based cooperation – grounded in trust, quality, and a common goal – delivers tangible results. The meeting was an opportunity to reflect on how this collaboration can be strengthened and expanded in the years ahead.
One of the highlights of the visit was the participation of both organisations’ representatives in a meeting of the Practitioners’ Network for European Development Cooperation – a European forum of pillar-assessed organisations working in the field of development.
The visit concluded with further discussions – joined by Zuzanna Kierzkowska, Deputy Director of the Department of Development Cooperation at the Polish MFA – on the challenges and good practices of GIZ in the Eastern Partnership region. It was unanimously emphasised that such meetings not only strengthen inter-institutional relations but also contribute to the development of the entire region.
