The decades of peace in Europe that followed the end of the Second World War led us to believe that freedom would last forever. Reality has proven that freedom is fragile and moments of peace are short.
Safety is crucial for personal independence and for the freedom to choose one’s own development path
That’s why we support the freedom, security and prosperity of our partners, especially in the countries of the Eastern Partnership: Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia. We focus on the development of civil society, democratic transformation, free media, education and human rights.
Our programmes bring about lasting change – in institutions, legislation and public awareness – that continues to benefit our partners even after joint projects have ended.
We share Poland’s experience of transformation, working both locally and at the central level, jointly planning activities tailored to real needs. Present on the ground, we also reach small towns, supporting grassroots change and strengthening local communities.
Together with our partners, we drive change at both central and local levels. We reach remote villages and towns to inspire and stimulate grassroots development processes. We take a systemic approach by implementing programmes and projects that improve the legal environment, institutional structures and partners’ awareness. The results of our joint efforts are visible, lasting, and continue to benefit our partners long after the initiatives have ended.
Acting together – this is our response to today’s challenges. We support our partners not only in times of crisis, but also in their everyday efforts for change. By investing in them, we also invest in peace, development and the security of the region – and of Poland.
