Georgia
Despite growing political tensions, we remain committed to supporting local communities in Georgia. Our long-term presence in the country allows us to respond to emerging challenges while continuing to promote modern, accessible public services – especially in rural areas.
The past year marked a troubling shift in Georgia’s political direction.
The so-called “foreign agents” law adopted in the spring raised serious concerns among civil society organisations and hindered cooperation with international partners. Following the parliamentary elections in October 2024 – the results of which were contested by both the opposition and the international community – the country saw the beginning of prolonged protests.
Digital infrastructure development
Despite the tense political situation, the Foundation continues its efforts to support local development. We focus on modernising and improving the accessibility of public services – including through the implementation of a multi-year programme to develop digital infrastructure in rural areas.
