Election-observation missions
Free and fair elections are the foundation of democracy – their conduct is not only a moment of citizens’ decision-making but also a test of the effectiveness of democratic institutions. In cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, the Solidarity Fund PL has for many years actively supported international election observation missions, preparing and deploying Polish election observers to countries in the region as part of OSCE/ODIHR activities.
Since 2012, the Solidarity Fund PL has deployed over 800 Polish observers – including 69 long-term observers – to 33 OSCE/ODIHR election observation missions. We have observed presidential, parliamentary, and local elections in Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Russia. In addition, the Foundation has supported a citizen election observation mission in Ukraine (2012), public monitoring of election campaign financing in Moldova (2014), and national election observation conducted by Transparency International in Georgia (2016).
Polish observers are recruited through an open competition. In addition to holding Polish citizenship and being fluent in English, they are distinguished by their knowledge of the region or country of observation, as well as the local language. Polish observers have prior experience in international election observation missions, while first-time participants undergo training organised by the Foundation. The FSM preparatory training lasts two days and is preceded by the completion of an online course prepared by OSCE/ODIHR.
Recruitment of Observers
We have selected an election observer for the parliamentary elections in Moldova.
We are looking for individuals interested in monitoring the electoral process and ensuring its transparency and fairness.
