We implement our activities in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), responding to the specific needs of local communities in countries covered by Polish development cooperation.
We support reforms that strengthen the resilience of public institutions, empower local governments, and foster the development of civil society.

Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
We support the development of resilient institutions, the growth of local governments and civil society, as well as the promotion of human rights and access to reliable information. As part of our support for Belarusian society, we assist human rights organisations, individuals affected by repression, and independent media. In Ukraine and Moldova, we are engaged in building civil protection systems – including the development of volunteer fire brigades and strengthening uniformed services. We work to promote decentralisation, transparency, and the readiness of local institutions to implement development and integration processes.
Decent Work and Economic Growth
We support the development of local labour markets and entrepreneurship, particularly in less advantaged regions. In Moldova, we assist in the growth of the SME sector and rural entrepreneurship. In Ukraine, we are engaged in modernising vocational education – supporting curriculum reforms, the development of teaching staff, and the promotion of education aligned with labour market needs.
Sustainable Cities and Communities
We support the development of local spaces in a sustainable and integrated way. We implement revitalisation initiatives, apply the smart village approach, and support growth pole cities. We work with local governments on improving municipal services and spatial planning – particularly in Ukraine and Moldova.
Quality Education
Education is the foundation of sustainable development. In Ukraine, we support vocational education reforms and training programmes for local leaders and public administration. In Moldova, we develop the capacities of civil servants and local institutions in the context of European integration. In Belarus, we facilitate access to education and reliable information in conditions of repression and exile.
Good Health and Well-being
We care for the mental and physical health of groups affected by crises and wars. In Ukraine, we run rehabilitation and psychological support programmes for veterans and children. In Moldova, we work to improve the quality of life in rural areas, including through initiatives on energy efficiency and digital inclusion.
